Blood Donation Process

Blood Donation Process

Blood donation is a simple and safe process that usually takes about 30-45 minutes. Here's a detailed breakdown of what to expect:

Registration

You will be asked to fill out a form with personal details, medical history, and lifestyle habits.

You may need to show an ID.

Health Check-Up

Check your weight (usually must be 50 kg or more).

Measure blood pressure & pulse to ensure you're fit to donate.

Check hemoglobin levels (small blood sample from a finger prick).

Confirm you meet eligibility criteria (age, recent travel history, etc.).

Step 1: Preparation

You'll be seated or asked to lie down.

A professional will clean your arm with an antiseptic.

A sterile needle will be inserted into a vein in your arm.

Step 2: Blood Collection

The donation process takes about 8-10 minutes.

Around 350-450 ml of blood is collected (varies by country & donor size).

You may be asked to squeeze a stress ball to help with blood flow.

Step 3: Needle Removal & Bandaging

The needle is removed, and a bandage is applied to stop bleeding.

You'll be asked to rest for 5-10 minutes before moving.
